Qi Rong
Name: Qi Rong (戚容); Xiao Jing (小镜)
Pronouns: He/him (most used), she/her, they/them, whatever.
Face claim: Xiao Dejun
Age: 25 modern AU; 800+ canon era
Sexuality: submissive brat, heavy mlm leaning
Birthday: May 2
Height: 150cmMuse Info: This is an afab genderfluid interpretation of Qi Rong. He will be rude, hurtful, and selfish. He is loud, crass, and disgusting. According to most, anyways.
This account exists for me to explore aspects of his characterization from canon that I don't often see explored through fics or RP. Check my carrd homepage to read about me as a roleplay partner, specifically.
This portrayal will be as close to his canon characterization as I can make it, but with a heavy focus on Qi Rong's trauma and PTSD, and based off a lot of my headcanons around these two things. This account is drama free and will not be engaging in drama. I will state that Qi Rong is my favorite character, and if I am not comfortable with the way he's being interrupted by an RP partner, I may drop the thread.
BACKSTORY
CANON VERSE
Qi Rong was born to a Xianle royal and a bodyguard from Yong'An. For the first five years of his life, he and his mother were repeatedly and routinely abused by his father, and forced to live in a shed similar to a doghouse. Eventually, his mother took him and escaped back to Xianle's capital, leaving his father behind.
Upon arrival in the capital, Qi Rong was given the name Xiao Jing, and left much to his own devices when he wasn't with his tutor. None of the other kids would play with him, having watched the way their parents treated him and emulated that themselves. The only one who was ever kind to him was his cousin, Xie Lian.
Throughout the next few years, Qi Rong dedicated himself to his cousin, to his defense, all culminating in the end of the civil war, when Xianle's capital falls, and Qi Rong's trust and belief in his cousin shatters.
In it's place is a bitterness, that even his infallible cousin crown prince had now failed him too, just like everyone else in his life. Everyone who failed him or left him. Just like his aunt and uncle now too, leaving him to find his own way out of the capital as the filthy Yong'An people took over.
Following the fall, Qi Rong disappears, until he surfaces again a few generations later in Yong'An TI lead a rebellion against the Yong'An royals, disappears again, and surfaces centuries later after his cousin ascends again.MODERN VERSE
Qi Rong has had a similar upbringing to his canon one. His father was cruel and vicious, abusive to both Qi Rong's mother and him, until his mother escaped with him to his aunt and uncle's.
After his mother's death, Qi Rong lived with his aunt and uncle, until he was old enough to move out, at which point, he moved into his own apartment, living as any other rich kid, spoiled and bitter at his aunt and uncle's negligence.OTHER VERSES
Other verses are more than welcome! If you have a verse you'd like to RP with him in, please let me know. I'm open to any and all RPs in any and all universes! :)

Headcanons
Below are my main headcanons for Qi Rong, and are a lot of the basis for my portrayal of him. Feel free to use any one of these to come up with a plot for us; I want to explore them all!**Also, if you have any ideas you have that you want to play out and haven't had a chance to (certain tropes/universes/etc that you haven't found a partner for), this is blanket permission to just drop them in my DMs without warning and ask.
Morals - Not only is he traumatized by his father's abuse of his mother during his formative years, no one ever bothers to correct this and help him form a solid foundation for his morals. As such, he has no clue how he's supposed to act, nor is he ever taught that either. All he ever receives is derision and judgment from people (Xianle nobility) who find him distasteful for reasons they don't share with him. Because no one ever taught him, he grew up with a twisted set of morals. He cares about himself and HIS people only, the people he deems worthy of his attention (at first, Xie Lian, and then no one but himself, and finally, Guzi).
Words - NONE of what Qi Rong says is straight up. There's always hidden meanings in his words, layers beneath his words, and if you want to know what they are, feel free to DM me; I'd love to go on and on about them. When he yells, or insults someone else, it's usually directed towards himself. He throws tantrums like a child because he's never learned how to properly express his wants or needs.
Yong'An - Qi Rong hates himself, and he projects this onto other people. He doesn't hate all of himself, just the Yong'An part, the commoner part. The Yong'An commoner who hurt his mother repeatedly, throughout years of abuse, and ultimately (in his mind), was the biggest contributing factor to his mother not being well enough to spend time with him once they arrived at the Xianle capital. In addition, because of his father's, and subsequently his own Yong'An blood, he hates anything to do with Yong'An. It is exacerbated when the Yong'An people are the ones that destroy Xianle and in turn, destroy his trust in the one consistent thing in his life: His Cousin Crown Prince.
Expectations - Everyone expects Qi Rong to be crass and despicable, so he sees no reason to try and be anything else. If they already believe him to be so, then why should he try? They already dislike him, and nothing he does will likely change their minds. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy; they believe he'll be vulgar and disgusting, so he is, which leads them to have a righteous, holier-than-thou belief that they were right about him all along, when actually, it was their own initial biases against him that caused his behavior.
Copying - It's pointed out in canon that he copies Hua Cheng with his upside down blood body forests trying to emulate the blood rain Hua Cheng is known for, and eating humans by trying to emulate He Xuan, who's known for eating ghosts and absorbing their power. He looks up to them (in a way) and wishes to be powerful like them, because no one messes with He Xuan and Hua Cheng. No one small anyways. He wants to be strong so no one bothers him, so he can be left alone in peace to do his own thing, without the eyes of everyone on him calling him crass and vulgar and disgusting.
Cooking - Qi Rong is actually a good cook! He doesn't just munch on raw dead bodies! Sure, sometimes he does, because it's the fastest way to eat them, but he likes to take his time too with them, with preparing his meals and stewing them long and slow with spices to create a delicious meal. The only reason he eats some raw is because he's attempting to force people to respect him like they do with Black Water for eating ghosts, OR he's just trying to eat before it's taken away! There's multiple times in canon where he's just minding his own business trying to eat a meal, and he's interrupted, attacked, insulted, etc, and can't finish his meal. :(

For this RP; TW - Qi Rong is a submissive brat, meaning he does not say what he means. There's always layers to what he says, ways it's been twisted in his mind to be negative towards himself. Part of this is because he's faced 800+ years of ridicule and hate, and part of it is from his father and uncle's abuse. In this RP portrayal, I'm expanding on his backstory that part of why he reminds Xie Lian of the King with his ego and pride, is because he inadvertently picked up these traits from his abuser. I will not go into explicit detail without trigger warnings, but he has been routinely assaulted by his uncle in this RP.
SHIPS
~Info/Guidelines~
—If you wish to ship with my Qi Rong, I ask that you please read this Reddit post on bratting.
—Ships are open to any ages, genders, sexualities, etc, except to minor muses.
—Mod would like it to develop naturally through interactions, but that doesn't mean we can't form an idea in DM first!
—Muse is strictly multiship. The only thing I will not RP is a cheating plot where a muse cheats on another.
—Mod is proship, aka if you don't like, don't read. Since this is roleplay, which is fiction, mod is open to discussing any plot ideas you may have. DM RP is also something I am willing to do, if that is more comfortable for you.
—If I suggest something that you aren't comfortable RPing, I expect you to be an adult and tell me that. That said, I will not force any plots on anyone; if you're not up for it, tell me, so we can come up with a different idea we can both enjoy.
—If you want to ship with him, please DM me! I'm super friendly, I promise!~CURRENT RELATIONSHIPS~
